When I went job hunting for a teaching job I deleted pretty much everything and had friends only for FB.

Anything you do that can be related to your work place can make them look good or bad...so they are limiting the possibilities of having bad things happen. It had been standard policy that you could be fired for doing stupid things off the clock wearing anything that could relate you to the company.

    That is pretty intense though.

I agree 100% with this. It is usually best to keep work matters at work, and keep the people that sign your paycheck happy. It is a sad downside to the internet that employers can snoop around and see what you are up to.

When I worked at Tweetsie R/R 2 summers ago I heard of a lot of people losing their jobs/getting in trouble for the stupid shit they posted on facebook, when their job was listed as Tweetsie

Personally, I think that's absurd. But, it is what it is.

Last time I checked I woke up in the US and I believe we have a first amendment right to do or say anything we want to as along as its not breaking any state or federal laws.I would never sign a piece of paper from work that would limit that right.

you can choose to forfeit those rights if you want a certain job that requires it, no one's forcing you to take it. i think we are going to see more and more of this in the future.

it's a form saying you won't discuss the company on blogs/facebook/myspace etc.

the company is simply protecting themselves from employees giving the "official" position of Autobell. It really isn't a violation of any rights at all.

I shouldn't have signed it. I'm quitting and I haven't worked in weeks. There was a video that a manager, a former employee, and me were in surfing down hills on old tables all while wearing their sweatshirts. I untagged myself and the manager did too, but they contacted my friend who no longer works there and did not sign anything and threatened him with legal action if he did not remove it.

Since there was no reference to the company, no slander/libel or defamation of any kind, I don't see how they would have a case against him. I personally think that they are trying to scare people into doing what they want with "legal action." Which, if they have no case, and are threatening a former employee, I think something can be done on his part.

    Enlighten me

Then you wouldn't work there. If you want to work there, you sign it if they ask you to.

Do you think the CIA agents talk about work stuff on a blog? No.

First amendment also doesn't give you any rights on a forum either, such as this one.
